About the position

The Nurse Unit Based Educator (CNE) at Penn Medicine is a clinical leadership role focused on enhancing the quality of patient care through education, consultation, and research. The CNE is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating standards of practice that improve care delivery to individuals and populations. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to address clinical practice issues and support organizational goals, while also managing complex patient-family situations and promoting professional development among nursing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and evaluate standards of practice to improve patient care delivery.
  • Facilitate the implementation of organizational initiatives integrating evidence and professional standards.
  • Serve as a liaison to communicate and negotiate multiple perspectives within the organization.
  • Address and resolve ethical issues in clinical practice.
  • Promote understanding of clinical issues and reflective practice among staff.
  • Maintain current professional knowledge and competence within specialty area.
  • Support the autonomy and accountability of nursing roles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Valid RN License
  • Critical Care Experience
  • CPR/BLS Certification

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Open Heart Surgery and ECMO
