About the position

Schichtel's Nursery Inc. is seeking seasonal Nursery Workers for full-time positions in Springville, New York. The role involves various tasks related to the planting, cultivation, and production of trees and shrubs, utilizing farm equipment and manual labor. Workers will be responsible for operating machinery, planting, packaging, and loading plants, while adhering to safety protocols and operational instructions.

Responsibilities

• Operate wheel tractors pulling planters and planting wagons.
• Plant trees using shovels and dig trees with digging spades.
• Operate skid steers with tree spade attachments for Balled and Burlap (B&B) production.
• Package finished root balls by stapling burlap and tying branches with twine.
• Load and unload bare root trees or shrubs by hand into refrigerated trailers.
• Drive trucks, vans, and tractors on nursery property and public roads.
• Spray, weed, fertilize, and water trees by hand using pumps or hoses.

Requirements

• Must be able to lift a minimum of 80 pounds.
• Criminal background check at employer's expense.
• Random drug testing can be performed post-hire at the employer's expense.
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures.
• Ability to perform repetitive movements, extensive pushing/pulling/sitting/walking, and frequent stooping.
