The Nursing Assistant and Unit Secretary position in the Trauma Surgical ICU at York Hospital is a critical role that combines both clinical and administrative responsibilities. This full-time position requires working night shifts from 3 PM to 3 AM, with a rotation of every third weekend and holiday. The Trauma Surgical Intensive Care Unit (TSICU) is a specialized 10-bed unit dedicated to providing care for critically ill trauma and surgical patients aged 15 years and older. The unit is equipped to handle complex medical needs, including post-operative care, invasive monitoring, and various therapeutic interventions. As a Nursing Assistant and Unit Secretary, you will act as a central point of contact for patients, visitors, and healthcare staff. Your responsibilities will include greeting and assisting individuals entering the unit, managing telephone communications, and ensuring that all necessary medical records and documentation are accurately maintained. You will also be responsible for transcribing physician orders, scheduling patient services, and entering data into electronic health records. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care, as you will be involved in providing direct nursing care, assisting with daily living activities, and monitoring patient conditions. In addition to clinical duties, you will play a vital role in maintaining the organization and efficiency of the unit. This includes ensuring that supplies are stocked, patient rooms are prepared, and that all necessary equipment is available for patient care. You will collaborate closely with registered nurses and other healthcare professionals to communicate changes in patient conditions and to facilitate timely responses to patient needs. Your ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a positive, helpful attitude will be essential in fostering a supportive environment for both patients and staff.
