About the position

The Nursing Assistant in the Emergency Room at Rivers Health is responsible for providing patient care and performing various procedures under the supervision of registered or licensed practical nurses. This role emphasizes adherence to hospital policies, patient privacy, and teamwork, while also participating in quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities

• Delivers and documents care according to hospital policies, procedures, and philosophies.
• Follows strict aseptic technique at all times and uses sterile technique when indicated.
• Observes and reports all patient concerns and changes in condition to a Nurse immediately.
• Safely transports patients, supplies, and specimens.
• Respects patient's privacy rights and provides care according to individual patient values.
• Assists with orientation of new employees.
• Completes all annual competencies.
• Assists with unit cleanliness.
• Performs other duties that may be assigned.
• Complies with Corporate Policies, Procedures and Personnel Employee Handbook.
• Must be able to cross-train to other units.
• Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills.
• Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration and participates in unit meetings.
• Participates in quality improvement activities including serving on quality improvement teams.

Requirements

• Basic ability to read, write, and understand simple instructions.
• CPR certification required.
• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• BLS certification required.
• Meet unit proficiency standards.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience in a healthcare facility delivering direct patient care preferred.
