About the position

The Nursing Assistant I in Inpatient Surgery at Bassett Medical Center plays a crucial role in the nursing care team, providing both direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). Responsibilities

• Assist with direct and indirect patient care within the scope of practice.
• Perform Activities of Daily Living (ADL) care including oral care, bathing, and toileting.
• Change bed linen and maintain a decluttered patient care area.
• Implement infection prevention and safety measures.
• Assist with patient mobility and use of assistive devices.
• Deliver and document meal tray services and assist patients with meals.
• Collect patient data using various equipment and document in EMR.
• Provide direct patient monitoring and safety interventions.
• Communicate effectively with the healthcare team regarding patient care.
• Perform patient care interventions as delegated and within scope of practice.
• Prepare patient rooms for admissions and discharges.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• BLS certification within 6 months of hire required.
• Strong accountability and clinical skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with people and multi-task.
• Reliability in performing job duties.
