About the position
The Nursing Assistant I plays a crucial role in providing basic nursing care and personal assistance to patients under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) or licensed practical nurses (LPNs). This position is essential for ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients in a healthcare setting, contributing to their overall health by performing various tasks and maintaining effective communication with the healthcare team.
Responsibilities
- Provides quality patient care including measuring vital signs, personal care, and assisting with nutritional needs.
- Accurately documents patient care according to unit specific standards.
- Promotes effective communication between patients, teammates, physicians, and visitors.
- Ensures teamwork by accepting delegated tasks and seeking help when needed.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly environment for self, patients, and teammates.
- Responds appropriately and promptly in emergency situations.
- Provides assistance and customer service to patients and visitors.
Requirements
- Completion of state approved Level I Nurse Aide training and competency evaluation program or its equivalent.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Current Listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I registry.
- Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
- At least one year in a health care setting preferred.
- Ability to provide excellent patient and customer care.
- Ability to communicate effectively in speaking, reading, and writing.
- Able to learn new software rapidly, with knowledge of Epic/EMR being helpful.
