About the position

The Nursing Assistant I - Surgical Inpatient at Bassett Medical Center plays a crucial role in the nursing care team, providing both direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). This position is focused on improving patient health and ensuring quality care through various responsibilities, including assisting with daily living activities, monitoring patient safety, and performing essential clinical tasks. The role also involves clerical support in select departments, contributing to a collaborative healthcare environment dedicated to patient well-being.

Responsibilities

• Assist with direct and indirect patient care within the scope of practice.
• Perform Activities of Daily Living (ADL) care including oral care, bathing, and toileting needs.
• Change bed linen and maintain a decluttered patient care area.
• Implement safety and preventative care measures, including infection prevention and fall prevention.
• Assist with patient mobility and use of mobility assist devices.
• Deliver and document nutrition-related tasks, including meal tray delivery and feeding assistance.
• Collect patient data using various equipment and document in EMR.
• Provide direct patient monitoring and interventions as delegated.
• Communicate effectively with the nursing and healthcare team regarding patient care.
• Meet individual patient needs to ensure excellent care delivery.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• BLS certification within 6 months of hire required.
• Strong accountability and clinical skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with people and multi-task.
• Reliability in performing job duties.
