About the position

The Nursing Assistant II at Stanford Health Care provides essential direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role involves measuring and recording patient information, assisting with daily living activities, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients. The Nursing Assistant is a vital member of the patient care team, ensuring that patient needs are met with compassion and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately observes, records, and reports patient information.
  • Adheres to nursing care standards and hospital policies.
  • Assesses and documents vital signs on stable patients.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living as assigned.
  • Carries out responsibilities following safety guidelines.
  • Completes orientation and participates in learning activities.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, and staff.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly environment.
  • Orders and maintains equipment and supplies for the unit.
  • Provides break relief or assistance to the unit clerk as needed.
  • Assists with rehabilitative activities under supervision when applicable.
  • Orients patients and families to the environment.
  • Performs routine patient care tasks under RN supervision.
  • Provides sitter duties when needed for patients.
  • Responds appropriately in emergency situations and notifies appropriate personnel.
  • Stocks rooms with supplies as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to accurately perform reading, writing, and arithmetic required by the job.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, and families.
  • Ability to demonstrate customer service skills in high-stress situations.
  • Ability to learn standard nursing procedures used in patient care.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to provide appropriate care based on individual needs, including age.
  • Knowledge of basic principles and procedures of nursing aide work.
  • Knowledge of standard asepsis, hygiene, and infection control procedures.
  • BLS Certification.
