About the position
The position involves providing patient care and performing various procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse. The role emphasizes adherence to hospital policies and procedures while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Responsibilities
- Delivers and documents care according to hospital policies, procedures, and philosophies.
- Follows strict aseptic technique at all times and uses sterile technique when indicated.
- Observes and reports all patient concerns and changes in condition to a Nurse immediately.
- Safely transports patients, supplies, and specimens.
- Respects patient's privacy rights and provides care according to individual patient values.
- Assists with orientation of new employees.
- Completes all annual competencies.
- Assists with unit cleanliness.
- Performs other duties that may be assigned.
- Complies with Corporate Policies, Procedures and Personnel Employee Handbook.
- Must be able to cross-train to other units.
- Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills.
- Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration and participates in unit meetings.
- Participates in quality improvement activities including serving on quality improvement teams.
Requirements
- Basic ability to read, write and understand simple instructions.
- CPR certification required.
- Meet unit proficiency standards.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- BLS certification required.
- Previous experience in a health care facility delivering direct patient care preferred.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
