About the position

The County of Riverside's University Health System (RUHS) Medical Center is seeking multiple Regular Fulltime and Per Diem Nursing Assistants to provide essential support across various units and departments. This role involves assisting professional nursing personnel in delivering basic patient care, monitoring patients, and performing nonprofessional nursing duties. The position is entry-level and may require floating between different departments based on the needs of the organization. Applicants will have the opportunity to indicate their employment preference and preferred shift times during the application process.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic bedside nursing care to ensure patient comfort and cleanliness.
  • Take and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
  • Assist patients with bathing, feeding, and dressing, and support those capable of self-care.
  • Collect and test routine specimen examinations, and manage bedpans and patient intake/output records.
  • Assist in administering treatments such as suctions, enemas, and sitz baths, and support healthcare providers during medical procedures.
  • Help patients in mobility, including getting in and out of bed and wheelchairs, and assist in lifting and positioning patients.
  • Clean and sterilize medical instruments and supplies, and transport patients as needed.
  • Monitor patients using video monitoring equipment and report any unusual behavior to nursing staff.
  • Provide patient transportation and assist in admissions and discharges as necessary.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of the education required by the State of California for Nursing Assistant certification.
  • Possession of a valid Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA), Paramedic license, or EMT certification issued by the State of California.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License may be required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of basic patient care principles and techniques.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
