About the position

The Nursing Assistant position at Trustwell Living at Oakley Place is responsible for providing essential resident services and support in a home-like environment. The role involves assisting residents with daily living activities, medication assistance, meal services, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. The Nursing Assistant will work closely with other staff and volunteers to ensure the well-being and dignity of residents, adhering to established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and convey the philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for residents.
  • Receive and give report from the previous shift and review assignments with the designated supervisor.
  • Assist with orientation of new staff to job responsibilities.
  • Assist residents with instrumental activities of daily living (ADLs) and encourage self-care and independence.
  • Set up, serve, and clean up after meals for residents.
  • Provide services as indicated on resident service plans, including bathing, toileting, transfer, and mobility assistance.
  • Assist residents moving in and out as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, comfortable, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Observe and communicate changes in resident status, needs, or preferences appropriately.
  • Assist with individual resident and group social recreational activities.
  • Notify the nurse or designated agents of resident status or changes as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Willingness to adhere to assisted living principles in providing services.
  • Ability to perform all position responsibilities adequately with minimal supervision.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information.
  • Displays cleanliness, good grooming, and follows dress requirements consistently.
  • Organizes and utilizes time appropriately toward accomplishing assigned tasks.
  • Displays mature behavior and attitude in speech and action.
  • Ability to learn new skills and teach others.
  • Interacts professionally with residents, public, and co-workers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both speaking and writing.
  • Ability to spend long periods on feet and to ambulate quickly.
  • Ability to work safely and recognize potentially dangerous situations.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 35 pounds regularly.

Nice-to-haves

  • 18 - 24 months experience in a similar position.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
  • Twelve (12) plus years of education preferred.
