About the position

The Swedish Institute, College of Health Sciences is seeking a Nursing Associate Dean & Program Coordinator who will play a pivotal role in overseeing the nursing program's clinical and didactic components. This position requires a dedicated individual who will ensure that students are effectively placed and supervised at clinical sites, fostering a robust learning environment. The Nursing Associate Dean & Program Coordinator will be responsible for making regular visits to clinical sites to monitor student training, cultivate new clinical partnerships, and maintain positive relationships with existing sites. A key aspect of this role is tracking students' readiness for the NCLEX examination, ensuring they meet all necessary competencies and objectives during their clinical rotations. In addition to coordinating clinical placements, the Nursing Associate Dean & Program Coordinator will establish and implement both short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures. This includes monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the program and making necessary adjustments for continuous improvement. The role also involves teaching course materials as outlined in the syllabus, ensuring that instruction aligns with career expectations and employer needs. The Coordinator will implement evaluations for outcomes assessment, striving to achieve established results while upholding the college's standards of student satisfaction. The position may require travel to various medical facilities and community venues to support curricular activities. The Nursing Associate Dean & Program Coordinator will maintain accurate attendance records, share relevant information with the Dean of Nursing, and participate in faculty meetings, in-service training, graduations, and other college events. Ensuring sufficient clinical sites for student placements is crucial, as is engaging in retention activities that involve communication with students and administration regarding attendance and academic progress. Periodic evaluations of clinical sites and the overall effectiveness of clinical experiences for students will also be part of the responsibilities. The Coordinator will collaborate with the Program Director to assess student paperwork related to clinical experiences and coordinate the program's clinical and didactic requirements, including managing medical files. Additional duties may include conducting preceptorships and assisting with hospital orientations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates completion by students of all clinical competencies and ensures that all objectives are met during clinical rotation.
  • Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement.
  • Teaches the depth and scope of class materials as outlined in the syllabus and catalog and relates the instruction to careers and employer expectations.
  • Implements evaluation for outcomes assessment and achieves established results while maintaining college standards of student satisfaction.
  • May travel to relevant medical facilities, community venues, as required, in support of curricular activities.
  • Accurately maintains attendance records in accordance with the Attendance Policy, shares pertinent information with the Dean of Nursing.
  • Attends faculty meetings, in-service meetings, graduation, and other college events as required by the College.
  • Ensure there are enough clinical sites for students to be placed at during their clinical rotation.
  • Actively engage in retention activities including documented communication with both students and administration regarding attendance and progress.
  • Conducts periodic visits to clinical sites and periodically evaluates the effectiveness of all clinical sites.
  • Responsible for organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of clinical experiences for students enrolled in the program.
  • Works with the Program Director to assess and record student paperwork related to clinical experiences.
  • Works with the Program Director/Dean to coordinate clinical and didactic requirements of program including medical files.
  • Conducts preceptorship duties as needed.
  • Assists the Dean and Clinical Instructors with Hospital Orientations as needed.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • MSN in Nursing
  • Minimum total of three years current work experience in the field of nursing

Benefits

  • Salary range of $90,000 - $100,000 yearly
