About the position

The Director Nursing position at Houston Methodist is responsible for the comprehensive management of nursing units and departments, ensuring high-quality nursing care and operational efficiency. Responsibilities

  • Oversee the management of nursing units and departments, ensuring quality and efficiency in nursing care delivery.
  • Develop and implement strategic and operational plans for nursing services and human resource allocation.
  • Ensure employee engagement and adequate staffing levels, including hiring and performance management.
  • Conduct regular department meetings and performance appraisals to maintain communication and employee morale.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration and process improvements across departments to achieve business goals.
  • Monitor department operations to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Manage departmental budgets and financial targets, optimizing resource utilization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in nursing or related field (must obtain Master's within two years if not currently held).
  • Three years of experience in a clinical setting, with at least two years in a management role.
  • Current RN licensure in Texas or temporary licensure within 60 days; must obtain ANCC-recognized leadership certification within one year.
