About the position

The Full-Time Nursing Faculty position is for an Assistant Professor in the Practical Nursing Program at Northern Essex Community College. This is a tenure track position located at the Lawrence Campus, requiring 37.5 hours per week. The role is part of the MCCC/MTA Unit Faculty and is contingent upon funding. The successful candidate will be expected to teach various nursing courses across three semesters (fall, spring, and summer) and participate in curriculum development and evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Teach various Nursing courses in the classroom, Skills Lab, Clinical/Simulation over 3 semesters.
  • Participate in determining appropriate goals and objectives of nursing courses and assist in developing course standards.
  • Engage in curriculum development, implementation, assessment, and revision using defined program outcomes.
  • Teach in hybrid and/or videoconferencing formats as needed.
  • Utilize new simulations and computer technologies to facilitate learning.
  • Provide clinical instruction and evaluate student performance in both classroom and clinical settings.
  • Maintain expertise and currency in nursing and teaching responsibilities.
  • Participate in program committees and maintain office hours to advise students.

Requirements

  • An earned Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited college/university.
  • Minimum 2 years of full-time RN employment within the past 5 years.
  • Evidence of clinical competence in Medical Surgical, Pediatrics, Psych, or Maternal Newborn Nursing.
  • Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing.
  • BLS Health Provider Level certification from AHA.
  • Ability to clear a 10-panel urine drug screen per clinical placement facility policy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Teaching experience for nursing programs.
  • Experience in simulation development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of ACEN accreditation standards and MA BORN Regulations.
  • Understanding of healthcare disparities and needs of historically underserved communities.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English).
  • Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population.
