About the position

The Nursing Manager for General Surgery at Saint Vincent Hospital is responsible for providing leadership and support to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) in overseeing nursing and patient care functions within the hospital. This role involves managing nursing practices at the unit level, ensuring high-quality and safe nursing care, and maintaining the competency of clinical staff. The position requires a commitment to resource management and accountability for the assigned areas, operating under a 24/7 responsibility framework.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and support to the CNO in nursing and patient care functions.
  • Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing practice on a unit level.
  • Ensure high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care is delivered.
  • Support the competency of clinical staff and manage resources related to patient care.
  • Serve as a role model and advocate for the nursing profession.

Requirements

  • Active and current registered nurse license in the state of residence/practice.
  • Academic degree in nursing (Bachelor's or Master's preferred).
  • 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a manager or full-time charge nurse.
