About the position

The Nursing Practitioner in Preventive Health is responsible for providing preventive health services, including family planning and sexually transmitted disease care, under the supervision of the Lead APRN. This role involves assessing patient health, developing treatment plans, and providing education to individuals and groups. The position also includes responsibilities for quality improvement and leadership within the public health nursing team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide preventive health services to males and females under approved protocols.
  • Assess the health of patients seeking preventive health services.
  • Perform physical examinations and screenings for psychosocial problems.
  • Develop contraceptive plans and treatment plans for identified health issues.
  • Participate in disaster preparedness and staffing of shelters during emergencies.
  • Provide in-depth education regarding health care issues to individuals, families, and groups.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate clinical orientation and continuing education for public health nurses.
  • Serve as a preceptor and role model to preventive health nurses and nurse practitioner students.

Requirements

  • MN, MSN or DNP and licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) by the SC Board of Nursing.
  • Prescriptive Authority through the SC Board of Nursing or ability to obtain it within three months of hire.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing at the master's or doctoral level with clinical experience.
  • Current driver's license or ability to obtain transportation for job duties.
  • CPR certification within the first six months.
