The Nursing - RN Instructor position at Southwestern Community College involves providing instructional services to nursing students in both classroom and clinical settings. The position is structured for a 9-month academic year with an additional summer session, emphasizing professional development and effective student engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach assigned courses in accordance with course outlines and published course schedule
  • Maintain accurate records for each course taught
  • Prepare, review, and update course outlines on a regular basis
  • Recommend and assist with curriculum revisions as necessary
  • Assist in student recruitment, advising, and retention
  • Serve on college standing committees and attend meetings
  • Participate in curriculum advisory committee meetings, if applicable
  • Assist in selection and ordering of equipment, supplies, and textbooks
  • Participate in college events and activities
  • Attend college commencements
  • Cooperate in scheduled student evaluations of instructor and course
  • Keep regular posted office hours in accordance with college policy
  • Submit all college reports in an accurate timely fashion
  • Attend instructor and departmental meetings as scheduled
  • Be responsible for professional development and maintaining professional competence
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and others
  • Provide advising and registration services to students
  • Perform clinical education duties as assigned
  • Assign and grade clinical education assignments and paperwork
  • Serve as clinical coordinator when needed
  • Assist in the selection and interviewing of new nursing cohort annually
  • Be available to teach a 4-week summer course in addition to the regular curriculum

Requirements

  • BSN with commitment to obtain MSN within 3 years
  • 4 years clinical experience required
  • Unencumbered North Carolina RN License
  • Valid NC Drivers' License
