Requirements

  • Experience as a scheduler in a Healthcare or Long-Term Care setting
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Strong organizational, administrative and time-management skills
  • Ability to handle dynamic scheduling needs and adapt to last-minute changes
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience and the ability to relate tactfully and professionally with all staff
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant and to remain calm during emergency situations
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the facility is optimally staffed 7 days per week - 24 hours per day
  • Develop and maintain nursing staff schedules considering workload, qualifications, regulation compliance and staff preferences
  • Collaborate with nursing leaders to optimize staffing make up and budget impact including full-time, part-time and per diem resources
  • Handle scheduling conflicts, last-minute adjustments, and replacements as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of staff attendance, PTO, vacations, and schedule changes
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff regarding schedules and changes
  • Manage overtime and agency expense to achieve overall budget targets
