About the position

Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring, has an immediate need for a Full-time Nursing Simulation Coordinator in the Nursing Department. The work schedule is Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm (some flexibility is necessary to meet the demand of the nursing program). This is a Non-bargaining, Exempt Grade 31 position. Responsibilities

  • Oversee the simulation suite, which provides a safe environment for students to mimic activities that happens in an actual clinical environment.
  • Develop, collaborate and implement the simulation component of the nursing program.
  • Promote and coordinate the teaching, learning, and evaluation activities conducted by faculty, students and members of the community in the use of simulations.
  • Conduct analyses of occupational and academic areas to determine the requirements for revision of existing and new instructional systems including training programs.
  • Supervise staff to include: prioritizing, and assigning work, setting schedules, conducting performance evaluations, coaching, developing, and training staff, hiring, and recommending disciplinary actions.
  • Identify, track and monitor supplies required for simulation.
  • Track numbers of students participating in simulations and hours of participation, evaluate simulation effectiveness, and collect and report data relevant to student outcomes.
  • Assist with skills evaluations in the context of simulation.
  • Orient new nursing and other health science faculty, staff, students to simulation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing or the equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience.
  • Five years of acute care medical-surgical nursing experience.
  • Three years of teaching experience in nursing theory, clinical, or campus lab settings.
  • Three years of experience in instructional design.
  • Experience in simulation pedagogy.
  • Effective communication (both written and verbal).
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.
