About the position

The Nursing Staff Scheduler for Emergency Services at Stanford Health Care is responsible for facilitating and coordinating daily staffing and scheduling processes for assigned units to ensure appropriate staffing levels are achieved. This role also includes customer service responsibilities at the Information Desk, welcoming and directing patients, families, and visitors, and providing information about the hospital's services.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and coordinate daily staffing and scheduling processes for assigned units.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels are achieved in collaboration with Patient Care Managers and Clinical Nursing Supervisors.
  • Assist managers with RESQ, timekeeping, reports, and other duties as requested.
  • Process all Personnel Action Forms (PAFs) and terminations per procedure for assigned units.
  • Set up Daily Staffing sheet and enter known schedule changes prior to staffing a shift.
  • Receive patient census and acuity information for each nursing unit from Meditech CCT reports.
  • Maintain accurate data entry of staff activity per shift.
  • Allocate float personnel and supplemental staff to provide adequate coverage to appropriate units.
  • Communicate changes to the daily staffing plan to the Resource Nurse on the appropriate unit.
  • Orient new staff to staffing processes.
  • Develop computerized schedules for assigned nursing units based on established staffing patterns and policies.
  • Act as a liaison with the Payroll Department for payroll questions and problems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; higher education preferred.
  • Minimum of one year recent experience in a healthcare setting in a clerical role preferred.
  • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to utilize computer for data entry and retrieval.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Meditech software is preferred.
