About the position

The Nursing Supervisor at Hackensack Meridian Health is a professional registered nurse responsible for overseeing nursing operations within the Nursing Resource Center during per diem night shifts. This role involves supporting the execution of the nursing strategic plan, participating in decision-making, and providing operational and administrative support to nursing leadership. The Nursing Supervisor coordinates staffing, ensures quality and safety outcomes, and fosters a collaborative environment to enhance patient care and staff performance.

Responsibilities

  • Participate with recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Assist with unit huddles and leader rounding with employees.
  • Participate in unit goal creation reflective of hospital goals and the mission of Hackensack Meridian Health.
  • Lead or participate in evidence-based practice projects or research as appropriate.
  • Participate or lead in unit-based or hospital-based shared governance committees or councils.
  • Resolve conflicts and facilitate constructive resolutions and positive outcomes.
  • Complete employee corrective action plans/counseling as necessary.
  • Prepare and conduct periodic performance evaluations for assigned staff members.
  • Contribute to and monitor the unit orientation process for all roles as necessary.
  • Model the importance of employee recognition and cultural competence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Minimum 2 years recent nursing experience in respective specialty or equivalent.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs.
  • Strong sense of accountability for improving patient lives.
  • Exceptional focus on teamwork and dedication to ongoing education.
  • National Certification acceptable to the Magnet Recognition Program within two years of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
  • Supervisory or charge nurse experience.
