About the position

The position involves managing and overseeing daily business and administrative operations within the nursing service administration at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center. Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily business and administrative operations in nursing service administration.
  • Create policies and procedures to achieve department priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and promote patient-centered care.
  • Guide and teach team members, applying Lean methods to enhance practice and patient care.
  • Plan the staffing budget and manage equipment and expense budgets for the year.
  • Update staff on patients, especially those in critical condition, and report staffing and unexpected events.
  • Build relationships with department staff, patients' families, doctors, and external groups to enhance communication and problem-solving.
  • Prepare reports, maintain records and files, and manage equipment and inventory levels.
  • Maintain a database for generating reports as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Nursing.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in the nursing field.
  • Registered Nurse license.
  • Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support accreditation, or the ability to acquire it within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Understanding of medical terms, health promotion, and disease management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Interpersonal skills to engage effectively with various constituencies.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to guide the work of supervised staff in line with established guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to evaluate performance and conduct training of supervised staff.
  • Ability to observe and communicate patient's medical changes effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with electronic medical records and scheduling systems.
  • Familiarity with Lean methods in healthcare.
