About the position

The Nursing Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing hospital operations under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). This position is responsible for coordinating patient care activities, ensuring adherence to standards and policies, and managing nursing services in the absence of Unit Directors. The Nursing Supervisor is expected to maintain confidentiality and uphold the organization's mission, vision, and values while providing leadership and support to nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Supervise hospital operations under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer.
• Coordinate age-appropriate patient care activities in the absence of the CNO.
• Manage nursing care activities within nursing services when Unit Directors are unavailable.
• Ensure compliance with standards, policies, and procedures outlined for the facility.
• Maintain confidentiality and support the organization's mission, vision, and values.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Maine or Authorization to Practice pending licensure by endorsement.
• Minimum of 4 years acute care experience.
• Demonstrated clinical proficiency in age-appropriate patient care using the nursing process.
• Leadership skills with strengths in communication, organization, conflict management, and problem-solving.
• Ability to function independently and act rapidly in emergency situations.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• ED experience required.
• BCLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications within 6 months of hire.
