Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Nursing Unit Administrative Secretary for Cardiac Telemetry provides essential clerical support to the unit. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the smooth operation of the unit, including but not limited to maintaining complete and accurate medical records, answering telephone calls, and responding to requests from patients, families, and staff. The Administrative Secretary plays a crucial role in supporting Unit R7, which specializes in Cardiac Telemetry, a critical area of patient care that requires attention to detail and effective communication skills. The position requires a strong ability to read, write, and speak English, enabling the individual to follow simple oral or written instructions and complete standard forms accurately. Interpersonal skills are vital for this role, as the Administrative Secretary must maintain courteous relationships with patients, families, visitors, and Maine Medical Center employees. A thorough understanding of the policies, procedures, and organizational structure of the unit, as well as the Department of Nursing and Maine Medical Center, is essential for effective performance in this position. Additionally, the Administrative Secretary is expected to participate in ongoing education relevant to the role, ensuring that they remain knowledgeable about best practices and updates in the healthcare field. Basic computer skills and familiarity with medical terminology are also required to perform the duties effectively.
