About the position
The Nutrition Assistant at Union Health plays a vital role in ensuring that patients receive appropriate dietary care during their treatment. This position involves assisting with nutrition services in a fast-paced environment, focusing on sanitation and infection control while providing compassionate service to the community.
Responsibilities
- Recognizes the need for using correct sanitation techniques as they relate to infection control.
- Sanitizes work areas and carts before and after use with approved disinfectant.
- Wipes up spills and leaves work area neat.
- Uses correct sanitation techniques when preparing food, such as using gloves and avoiding touching face or hair.
- Completes all assigned cleaning tasks thoroughly and as scheduled, including keeping clean and organized.
- Signs off on daily checklist after completing assigned tasks.
- Reports to work well-groomed with a clean neat uniform and proper hair covering.
- Washes hands frequently during the day.
- Works with team members to serve customers and patients in a timely manner.
- Assembles supplies and equipment needed to do assigned job.
- Is knowledgeable regarding Hospital and department policies, procedures, and general information.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a hospital nutrition department or food service preferred.
- Flexible in schedule to meet the demands of the department.
