About the position

The Nutrition Research Assistant position at Mathematica involves supporting a nationwide school nutrition study focused on assessing the nutritional quality and cost of school meals. The role is part-time and temporary, requiring a commitment of at least 16 hours per week with flexible scheduling. The assistants will work closely with School Nutrition Managers to ensure the accuracy of menu survey data and will finalize this data in an online system. The position is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and is expected to start in early February 2025, lasting through August with potential for extended work on related tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Review completed menu surveys to identify missing data.
  • Follow up with School Nutrition Managers to retrieve missing data.
  • Finalize menu survey data in an online system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or prior experience with school food service or school nutrition studies (degrees in nutrition, dietetics, or related field preferred).
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with navigating online computer programs.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility, sensitivity, and patience in working with school staff.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience with nutrient analysis software and/or nutrient databases preferred.

Benefits

  • Anticipated hourly rate of $19.
  • Flexible scheduling between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
