About the position

The position is responsible for patient meal service food on assigned units, which includes tasks such as menu selections, tray assembly, delivery and pickup, and addressing special requests and needs. The role also involves in-between meal food delivery. The individual will communicate any patient food issues, concerns, and needs to team members within the department and will interact with nursing employees regarding patient nutrition needs or requirements. It is essential to react accurately and effectively to all changes to ensure efficient timing of services and the accuracy of physician-ordered modified diets.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for patient meal service food on assigned units.
  • Menu selections, tray assembly, delivery and pickup of meals.
  • Address special requests and needs from patients.
  • Deliver in-between meal food as required.
  • Communicate patient food issues and concerns to team members.
  • Interact with nursing employees regarding patient nutrition needs.
  • React to changes to ensure efficient timing of services and accuracy of modified diets.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1 year previous food service experience in a hospital setting required.

Nice-to-haves

  • ServSafe certification preferred.
  • Previous experience applying various diets used in a hospital setting preferred.
