About The Position

The Nutrition Solutions Manager will help to advance ACI's purpose to inspire wellbeing by making health easier and more accessible through Sincerely Health and other health initiatives. This role will work with external and internal stakeholders and provide expertise to develop and deliver ACI's nutrition strategy and potential related services in health. The Nutrition Solutions Manager will be responsible for driving engagement with Sincerely Health by developing interventions that help to improve the nutritional status of our customers. This role will interact closely with Product, Marketing, Merchandising, Regulatory Legal, Own Brands, and other teams as a thought partner, and to implement new Health & Pharmacy solutions with the aim of creating new, deeper relationships with customers. The right candidate will have a proven ability to translate nutrition science into solutions, recommendations and education that can influence customer behaviors around food and nutrition. A strong foundational knowledge of food-based dietary guidelines and nutrition policies to drive nutrition related health behavior change is essential to succeeding in this role. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in retail, consumer products, or healthcare, leveraging their background and/or experience to drive scalable solutions that can support our customers. This role will contribute to company's global nutrition and Health & Wellness business initiatives, including but not limited to, nutrition communication, scientific reviews of nutrition opportunities, translation of science to product opportunities, developing programs to support internal and external nutrition education, identify competitive opportunities, and develop tools needed to monitor progress. The position will be based in Pleasanton, CA.

Requirements

  • Registered Dietician, BS in Nutrition Science, Food Science or equivalent; MS degree preferred; or a combination education and relevant experience demonstrating competence in the role will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years combined nutrition science and communications required.
  • Alternatively, a blend of culinary, regulatory affairs, compliance, or technical expertise with a strong understanding of FDA and USDA food regulations is acceptable.
  • Proficiency with condition and disease-state topics (e.g., weight management, diabetes, heart health, etc.) and ability to integrate pharmacy, food and nutrition knowledge.
  • Familiarity with digital product experience is preferred.
  • Formal coursework or seminars related to Food Regulations or Nutrition Science is advantageous.
  • Membership in the Active Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) is also desirable.
  • Experience in creating standards of practice in a grocery retail environment preferred.

  • Management and supervisory background as this role may have direct reports, manage temporary resources, or manage external partner activities.
  • Proficiency working with culinary, product development, and regulatory affairs functions on food product package label requirements and claims for consumer-packaged goods with foodservice (menu-labeling) a plus.
  • Excellent understanding of US Dietary Guidelines and application of US nutrition labeling regulations (FDA/USDA) to ensure accuracy and consistency as it applies to products, messaging, and claims.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal).

  • Strong sense of urgency, time management, ability to prioritize multiple projects across multiple stakeholders, and commitment to meet aggressive timelines.

  • Strategic thinker with a customer centric focus; plus, tactical experience in project management, multi-tasking, and shifting work focus based on shifting business and technical priorities.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and connect to multiple audiences and influence without authority.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the Health team's and Own Brands team subject matter expert on nutrition, playing a key role in bringing in-store and digital health solutions to our customers that enable them to make more informed choices.
  • Partner with stakeholders such as Product, Marketing, Merchandising, eCommerce, Regulatory Legal to provide counsel on business implications related to nutrition solutions.
  • Develop and provide continuous clinical oversight of content, recommendations, data integrity, and nutrition related offerings within Sincerely Health.
  • Coordinate with Marketing to design education and marketing materials to support programs.
  • Drive workstreams or full projects through a structured cadence of milestones.
  • Monitor campaigns from ideation to completion with an eye for detail.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Health team's and Own Brands team's overall strategy and activities within the context of food and nutrition.
  • Make strategic recommendations on how to stitch together nutrition insights with our in-store and digital assets/experiences.
  • Monitor industry reports and offerings to share relevant trends and news with the Health and Own Brands teams.
  • Engage with external partners and regulatory agencies, as needed, to stay up to date with key nutrition related or nutrition claim developments.
  • Identify new opportunities to improve access to nutrition education.
  • Lead projects to identify outcomes of interventions and quantify results.
  • Independently monitor, interpret and ensure nutrition strategy is in compliance with applicable regulations today and into the future.
  • Identify and build relationships with internal and external partners to successfully implement nutrition solutions and services.
  • Maintain communication with other stakeholders to determine needs of payers, providers, academia, and supplier partners to prioritize solutions that meet the needs of the communities we serve.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across the company and effectively influence without authority to drive business decisions.
  • Manage relationships with external partners to grow a mutually beneficial business partnership to procure content and assets that will drive customer engagement.
  • Create, curate, and manage nutrition related content by consolidating research and insights around nutrition, dietary intake, and related health topics for consumers, health professionals and internal teams.
  • Develop content and programming for in-store or digital nutrition solutions and services.
  • Develop scalable education resources to promote health and well-being.
  • Create and maintain Albertsons Own Brands Nutrition Criteria that will serve as technical guidance to Own Brands product development, category management, and regulatory teams to support regulatory and health initiatives.

Benefits

  • The salary range is $105,900 to $137,580 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications.
