About the position

The position involves various kitchen duties including the preparation and assembly of a range of entrees such as hamburgers, subs, sandwiches, wraps, bagel lunches, salads, and veggie plates. The employee will also be responsible for prepping and assembling pizzas and other items as assigned by the Nutrition Manager. All food items prepared for sale to students must adhere to exact specifications, recipes, or directives from the Manager or Director of Nutrition Services. The role requires the use of various kitchen equipment including a buffalo chopper, shredder, food processor, deli slicer, knives, convection and conventional ovens, steamers, kettles, and cooktops. The employee must be capable of lifting up to 40 pounds. Cleaning duties include hand and/or machine washing of pots, pans, utensils, and other cooking equipment, as well as maintaining cleanliness of workstations and equipment according to HACCP standards. Additionally, the employee will assist in wiping down cafeteria tables in the dining area. Other responsibilities include receiving orders per SOP, stocking a la carte items, serving lunches in proper portions as instructed, and performing cashiering duties at the POS. All food handlers must comply with proper food safety guidelines (ServSafe). Employees are expected to work scheduled hours, arrive on time in uniform, and not work overtime without prior approval from the Manager or Director of Nutrition Services. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prep and assemble pizzas and other items as assigned by the Nutrition Manager.
  • Ensure all food items are prepared according to specifications, recipes, or directives from the Manager or Director of Nutrition Services.
  • Use kitchen equipment such as buffalo chopper, shredder, food processor, deli slicer, convection and conventional ovens, steamers, kettles, and cooktops.
  • Lift items weighing up to 40 pounds as needed.
  • Perform cleaning duties including washing pots, pans, utensils, and cooking equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of workstations and equipment per HACCP standards.
  • Assist in wiping down cafeteria tables in the dining area.
  • Receive orders per SOP and stock a la carte items.
  • Serve lunches in proper portions as instructed by the Manager or Director of Nutrition Services.
  • Perform cashiering duties at the POS.
  • Adhere to proper food safety guidelines (ServSafe).
  • Arrive on time in uniform and work scheduled hours without unauthorized overtime.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or Director of Nutrition Services.

Requirements

  • Food service experience preferred.
  • ServSafe Certification within 90 days of hire.
