About the position

The Food Service Worker is responsible for food preparation, serving, and cleaning up food and equipment for the School Nutrition Department. This role involves working collaboratively with school personnel and students to ensure a positive dining experience while maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food according to established guidelines.
• Maintain the serving line and ensure food acceptability before and after preparation.
• Operate, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment.
• Work independently and demonstrate initiative in completing tasks.
• Communicate effectively with school personnel and students to foster a positive work environment.
• Adhere to uniform and safety standards, including wearing appropriate clothing and footwear.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Food service preparation experience desired.
• Ability to read and write in English and perform simple arithmetic.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs safely.
• Good communicative, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to relate to children.
