About the position

As a Registered Dietitian at Amergis Healthcare Staffing, you will provide essential client services for the Community Health Nutrition Programs (CHNP), which includes the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. Your role will involve offering nutritional and breastfeeding counseling, education, and training to a diverse clientele, particularly focusing on high-risk individuals. You will work under basic supervision to address complex nutrition and breastfeeding challenges, ensuring that clients receive the support they need to improve their health outcomes. In this position, you will be responsible for managing high-risk counseling cases, performing anthropometric and biochemical measurements, and calculating specialty infant formulas. You will also counsel individuals facing complex health issues such as anemia, obesity, and general wellness concerns. Your expertise will be crucial in planning, developing, and teaching classes on nutrition and breastfeeding, as well as providing training on best practices in these areas. Additionally, you will be tasked with distributing educational materials, conducting outreach programs to inform community groups about available services, and maintaining accurate case file records. Confidentiality is paramount in this role, as you will handle sensitive client information and work-related issues. You may also assist in training and cross-training other Nutrition Specialists to ensure a well-rounded team capable of meeting the demands of the workload.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nutrition/breastfeeding counseling for low-income, pregnant, breastfeeding women, postpartum women, infants, and children.
  • Manage high-risk counseling cases and complex assessment and infant formula calculations.
  • Perform anthropometric and biochemical measurements, and approve specialty infant formulas.
  • Counsel high-risk individuals on complex health issues, including anemia, overweight/underweight, and wellness.
  • Plan, develop, and teach classes on nutrition/breastfeeding, prenatal, and breastfeeding education.
  • Provide training and education on breastfeeding practices and child and infant nutrition/breastfeeding issues.
  • Counsel and educate clients on proper nutrition/breastfeeding practices and provide referrals to other community service agencies as appropriate.
  • Distribute educational, training, and procedural materials to clients.
  • Provide outreach programs to explain the nature of PHSD programs and services to community groups and identify, evaluate, and report community needs.
  • Perform work of a Nutrition Specialist as needed to meet workload demands.
  • Assist with training and cross-training of Nutrition Specialists.
  • Maintain case file records.
  • Maintain valid Arizona State Driver's license.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.

Requirements

  • Registered Dietitian certification
  • Valid Arizona State Driver's license
  • Experience in nutrition counseling and education
  • Ability to manage high-risk counseling cases
  • Knowledge of breastfeeding practices and child nutrition
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
