About the position

The Senior Research Analyst, Taxable Fixed Income position at Nuveen Leveraged Finance involves obtaining, organizing, and analyzing market-related information specifically in the taxable fixed income sector. As a recognized subject matter expert, the analyst will monitor, research, and analyze market trends to provide recommendations for investment decisions, optimizing acquisitions, recapitalizations, and asset purchases. This role requires a deep understanding of the economic environment and the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights. The analyst will be responsible for conducting detailed research on specific organizations, securities, and financial products, as well as the overall economic landscape. This includes preparing comprehensive reports and developing complex financial models to support investment strategies. The role also entails building and normalizing research data sets to enhance the taxable fixed income portfolios, participating in studies of industry groups or individual securities, and developing methodologies to improve research quality. In addition, the analyst will review and approve research materials for dissemination, ensuring that all processes are efficient and transparent. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for enhancing research quality and effectiveness within the taxable fixed income portfolio. The analyst will work closely with the CLO team, focusing on CLO tranche investment research and supporting the growth of the CLO platform.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes research on specific organizations, securities, financial products, and the overall economic environment to optimize acquisitions, recapitalizations, and asset purchases.
  • Monitors, researches, and analyzes relevant economic, industry, and company data and market trends, preparing reports and developing complex models to support investment decisions.
  • Builds complex models and acquires, assembles, and normalizes research data sets to support taxable fixed income portfolios.
  • Participates in additional studies of industry groups or individual securities by searching for, compiling, and analyzing data.
  • Develops research methodologies and information sources to improve taxable fixed income research.
  • Reviews formal reports and research processes (internal ratings, recommendation lists, watch lists, etc.) that enable the efficient and transparent oversight of the asset class.
  • Reviews and approves research materials and results for dissemination.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve research quality for taxable fixed income portfolio.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in CLO markets required; 7+ years preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, engineering, computer science, or related fields with proven academic success.
  • Experience in CLO research, investments, or rating agencies is essential.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical skills, and exemplary attention to detail are required.
  • Proficient in Intex, Sequel, MatLab, and Python; knowledge of programming is preferred.
