About the position
The Repair Person at Nucor is responsible for assessing and executing repairs on products based on specifications and customer requirements. This role emphasizes timely repairs using various hand tools and methods, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. The position requires certifications in crane and forklift operations within the first 90 days and may involve additional functions in the Finishing area. The Repair Person must also operate machinery safely and work under varying weather conditions, including rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Make decisions on necessary repairs based on product specifications and customer requirements.
- Ensure timely completion of repairs including straightening, grinding, and recutting using hand tools.
- Safely operate the gag press to straighten bars to meet ASTM-A6 specifications.
- Perform other functions in the Finishing area as needed.
- Inspect products to identify defects and call out any problems during repairs.
- Monitor machines and processes to ensure proper operation.
Requirements
- Two years of experience in the Finishing Repair Area.
- Ability to operate machinery and tools safely and effectively.
