About the position

The Expert Software Architect (Java) position at Voyatek involves leading the development of automated applications for public sector agencies, focusing on tax-related applications. The role emphasizes mentoring staff, ensuring quality through unit testing, and facilitating communication between various stakeholders. The architect will leverage extensive experience in J2EE technologies and IBM development environments to deliver impactful technology solutions that improve community wellbeing and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Obtain business requirements to develop automated applications that meet business priorities.
• Provide lead programming duties for tax-related applications.
• Develop and mentor staff using technologies including J2EE, Spring, JSON, JavaScript, and JDBC.
• Develop and review detailed documentation for system and program change requirements, including detailed specifications documents.
• Assist and provide guidance through all phases of the project management life cycle.
• Develop unit test plans based on coding changes and user specifications.
• Conduct unit testing and debugging of all code changes in the development environment.
• Coordinate the migration of all code changes from development to user test environment.
• Assist team members using distributed technologies including Java, DB2, XML, and XQuery.
• Ensure that staff members are properly trained and mentored.
• Provide support for defects and issue resolution, ensuring prompt addressing based on priority.
• Facilitate and participate in meetings with ITS and DTF customers.
• Communicate clearly with DTF management, ITS management, and team members.

Requirements

• 84+ months of experience providing guidance to large teams and extensive industry experience in software architecture.
• 84 months experience with J2EE technologies including EJB, JDBC, JSP, and XML.
• 84 months experience with Java programming in an IBM development environment using IBM's Rational Application Developer (RAD) deployed to WebSphere Application Server (WAS).
• 84 months of IBM DB2 experience working with DB2 databases and XML schemas.
• 60 months experience in performance tuning applications interacting with databases.
• 60 months of experience with IBM MQSeries.
• 60 months experience in technical design, development, maintenance, and end user support of complex systems.
