About the position

The Expert Software Developer (Java) position at Voyatek involves maintaining and enhancing Java web applications for the NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities. The role encompasses the full System Development Life Cycle, including design, development, testing, and implementation of applications, while also providing training and mentoring to junior developers. This position is crucial for delivering technology solutions that improve public sector services and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Maintain OPWDD Java web applications including Division of Quality Improvement (DQIA) and SEMP applications.
• Design and create scripts for databases.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance Java applications.
• Test applications to ensure functionality and performance.
• Create and maintain documentation for applications and processes.
• Assist with implementation and ITSM incidents.

Requirements

• 84+ months experience providing guidance to large teams and extensive industry experience in software development.
• 84 months experience programming server-side Java web applications in a multi-tier environment using JDK 1.5 or higher.
• 60 months experience writing queries, stored procedures, functions, packages, and triggers in Oracle 10g or higher.
• 48 months development experience in database design and object creation/modification of databases with 20 or more tables in Oracle 10g or higher.

Nice-to-haves

• 48 months programming experience with Java Server Faces.
• 36 months programming experience with Java Persistence API.
• 36 months experience with JavaScript/JQuery.
