The position at Veolia North America involves providing day-to-day monitoring and basic operations of plant and pump/booster stations, as well as conducting routine lab tests and performing basic corrective and preventative maintenance activities. Employees will monitor and observe operating conditions, record observations and data in a shift log, and diagnose basic operational problems, taking corrective action as necessary according to procedures. In addition to equipment operation, the role includes performing routine cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, inspection, and minor repairs on various machines and related equipment, such as pumps, engines, centrifuges, and chemical feed systems. Employees are expected to report and document the results of their work and enter this information into the appropriate database. They will also collect samples of water, wastewater, industrial waste, and other materials according to a set schedule, performing field tests to ensure proper chemical dosages for process and odor control units. The position requires performing routine lab tests, preparing reports, and conducting instrument calibration for portable meters. Employees will learn to inspect and troubleshoot mechanical issues, dismantling equipment to access and repair defective parts using hand and power tools. The role also involves manual labor, including cleaning equipment and facilities, and may require the operation of vehicles and mobile equipment for maintenance purposes. Facility maintenance tasks may include replacing light bulbs, repairing windows, and performing general upkeep of the work environment. The work environment is primarily operational, with employees spending 100% of their time in this setting, which may include exposure to outdoor conditions and various operational hazards. The position may require travel for training purposes and participation in a rotational 24-hour emergency on-call schedule.
