The O&M Technician position at Veolia North America involves providing day-to-day monitoring and basic operations of plant and pump/booster stations, performing routine lab tests, and engaging in basic corrective and preventative maintenance activities. The technician will operate equipment both manually and through instrumentation panels, computer terminals, and programmable logic control units, adhering to established process control procedures. This role requires monitoring and observing operating conditions, recording observations and data in a shift log, diagnosing basic operational problems, and taking corrective actions as per procedures. In addition to operational duties, the technician will perform routine cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, inspection, and minor repairs on various machines and related equipment, including pumps, engines, centrifuges, generators, valves, and more. The technician is responsible for documenting the results of their work and entering this information into the appropriate database. They will also collect samples of water, wastewater, industrial waste, and other materials according to a set schedule, performing field tests to ensure proper chemical dosages for process and odor control units. The role requires performing routine lab tests, preparing reports, and conducting instrument calibration for portable meters. The technician will learn to inspect and troubleshoot mechanical issues, dismantling equipment to access and repair defective parts using various tools. The position also involves manual labor, including cleaning equipment and facilities, and may require the technician to operate vehicles and mobile equipment for maintenance purposes. The technician will also assist in facility maintenance and repair tasks as needed. The work environment is primarily operational, with exposure to outdoor conditions and potential hazards such as fumes, dust, and toxic chemicals. The technician may be required to travel for training and serve on a rotational 24-hour emergency on-call basis. This position is essential for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the facility's equipment and processes.
