Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed investigations to locate absent parents and verify employment.
  • Assist in establishing paternity for children born out-of-wedlock.
  • Prepare documents for legal and administrative actions to establish or enforce child support orders.
  • Negotiate lump sum payments from noncustodial parents for past due support.
  • Negotiate out-of-court settlements and agreements with parties.
  • Monitor child support cases and refer delinquent cases for enforcement actions.
  • Document all case actions using agency tools, including TXCSES and case/court documents.
  • Review and maintain child support virtual files for accuracy in the ECM repository.
  • Attend court to assist legal staff as needed.
  • Research case information using TXCSES.
  • Maintain current knowledge of child support policies, Texas Family Law, and federal regulations.
  • Assess child support cases to determine appropriate actions.
  • Explain Child Support Program policies and procedures to customers.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Assess validity of complaints against the IV-D program impartially.
  • Serve as Notary Public.
  • Perform related work as assigned.
  • Ensure security and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Comply with agency policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience in related fields.
  • Ability to proficiently read, write, and speak Spanish.
  • Skill in interviewing and negotiating.
  • Skill in using a personal computer for word processing and data entry/retrieval.
  • Skill in basic mathematical computations.
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Skill in effective oral and written communication.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a professional office environment.
  • Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel.
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed.
  • Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
  • Ability to travel up to 5%.
  • Typing speed of 35 words per minute.
