About the position

The Office of Academic and Institutional Support (OASIS) Operations Coordinator plays a crucial role in the recruitment, retention, and support of tutors within the Division of Student Affairs (DOSA) at Touro University Nevada. This position is not only administrative but also involves direct engagement with students and staff to ensure a supportive educational environment. In this role, the Operations Coordinator will be responsible for various aspects of tutor management, including recruitment through outreach initiatives, developing training curricula, and facilitating ongoing training sessions based on best practices. The coordinator will also assist in creating a leadership structure for tutors and organizing events to appreciate their contributions. Administrative duties will include providing customer service, processing contracts and payroll, maintaining tutor records, and reporting on financials related to tutor employment. The coordinator will also support the OASIS team with scheduling and basic administrative tasks, ensuring smooth operations within the office. Additionally, the Operations Coordinator will participate in university committee work and student events, demonstrating a commitment to supporting a diverse student body. This position requires flexibility, as it may involve occasional evening and weekend commitments to assist with university events. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in student affairs, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for fostering an inclusive educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit peer tutors for OASIS through outreach initiatives
  • Assist with the development of new tutor training curriculum
  • Plan, schedule, and deliver/facilitate ongoing training for tutors based on best practices
  • Assist with the development and implementation of tutor leadership structure
  • Plan and organize tutor interest and appreciation events
  • Provide direct customer service to students and staff
  • Process tutor contracts in an accurate and timely manner
  • Build and maintain tutor profiles and records in online database
  • Process timesheet and payroll approvals
  • Process monthly tutor assessments via tutor and tutee satisfaction surveys
  • Report tutor usage monthly
  • Maintain, review, and report on budgets and financials for tutor employment expenditures for both Federal Work Study and Institutional funds
  • Report monthly on number of students receiving accommodated testing across the institution
  • Serve as back-up proctor for accommodated testing
  • Assist with scheduling for OASIS Director, Assistant Director, and learning specialists
  • Assist OASIS team with basic administrative tasks such as supply ordering, catering orders, and university bookings
  • Participate in university committee work
  • Participate in student events such as orientation, white coat ceremony, commencement, etc.
  • Assist with university events as needed, which include occasional evening and weekend commitments
  • Show a capacity to support and celebrate students from a variety of identities (race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender, sex, age, etc.)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent higher education experience, particularly in Student Affairs
  • Tutoring/tutoring coordinator experience preferred
  • Teaching, coaching, training, or regular presentation experience preferred
  • Higher education experience preferred
  • Previous experience in recruitment and events/activities planning
  • Experience working with people of diverse and differing backgrounds
