About the position

The Oasis REAL (Reaching Excellence as Leaders) Program Specialist is responsible for co-coordinating and co-leading programs aimed at supporting BIPOC males aged 13-18 through various community and educational initiatives. This role involves facilitating group sessions, developing community partnerships, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services that promote positive youth development and self-regulation. The specialist will work closely with juvenile courts, schools, and families to provide resources and support for participants, while also collecting and reporting program data.

Responsibilities

  • Co-coordinate recruitment of new REAL group participants.
  • Supervise the provision of service/learning and positive youth development principles for young men ages 13-18.
  • Collaborate with Juvenile Court and schools in the provision of diversion and prevention services.
  • Coordinate enrichment and educational activities.
  • Organize month-long summer programming for youth.
  • Facilitate parent orientation, family outings, and graduation ceremonies.
  • Maintain communication to ensure participants receive necessary support post-program involvement.
  • Develop and maintain community partnerships for enrichment and college access activities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate collection of data on program activities and outcomes.
  • Supervise program volunteers and encourage reflection based on best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of direct service youth experience and/or experience working with court-involved youth.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form.
  • Skilled in forming trusting developmental relationships with youth.
  • Comfort in discussing structural oppression, racism, and social inequities affecting males of color.
  • Ability to form strong relationships with all youth, including LGBTQ+ youth.
  • Clear understanding of racial inequities and willingness to operate from an anti-oppression model.
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to apply basic adult learning and counseling principles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in leadership roles.
  • Knowledge of cultural sensitivity in curriculum development.
  • Ability to design and deliver training to teens and adults.
