About The Position

The OB Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the healthcare team during the delivery of patient care in the operating room, particularly during vaginal and cesarean deliveries. This position involves assisting physicians and registered nurses by preparing the operating room, managing surgical instruments, and ensuring a sterile environment throughout the procedure.

Requirements

• One year as a surgical tech or completion of a surgical tech program or surgical tech apprentice program.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology, the metric system, and aseptic technique.

• One year of experience in an operating room setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery of patient care during the intra-operative period.
• Help set up the operating room for surgeries.
• Prepare and transport patients for surgery.
• Adjust lights and equipment as needed during procedures.
• Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and assistants.
• Hold retractors during surgical procedures.
• Count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments to ensure nothing is left inside the patient.
