About the position

The role is focused on enhancing operational excellence within the Observability Practice at Worldpay, a leading payments technology company. The ideal candidate will guide product delivery teams, ensuring effective observability across customer journeys and contributing to the development of standards and practices that enhance platform resilience and scalability. This position requires a hybrid work model, with two days a week onsite, and involves collaboration with teams across various global regions.

Responsibilities

• Guiding product delivery teams on achieving operational excellence for new product deliveries.
• Providing a single point of contact for Business Ops, IT Ops, and Engineering across the customer journey.
• Defining requirements for end-to-end (E2E) observability across customer journeys.
• Developing E2E solutions for internal and external facing observability.
• Contributing to observability instrumentation standards and creating repeatable patterns and libraries for engineering teams.
• Conducting E2E capacity planning for specific user journeys.
• Creating a matrix team to support best practices and training for support and business operational teams to enable self-service of dashboards and alerts.

Requirements

• An operational mindset with a drive for operational excellence.
• Experience owning an E2E customer journey in a complex multinational organization.
• Experience with Open Telemetry, ideally as a contributor to the Open-Source Project.
• Proficiency in AWS and Java, with coding experience beyond simple scripts.
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams, influencing decisions and setting standards.
• Experience in achieving platform-level and E2E SLI, SLOs, and SLAs, and creating accountability for meeting them.
• Ability to perform E2E capacity planning and ensure architecture supports fluctuating volume levels.
• Understanding of batch reconciliation processes.
• Knowledge of implementing solutions to reduce Mean Time to Identify (MTTI) and Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR).
• Experience with disaster recovery and redundancy in cloud and on-prem environments.
• Experience leading cross-platform performance optimization and tuning.
• Ability to navigate complexity and lead Post-Incident Reviews (PIRs) to successful outcomes.
