About the position

The Observability SRE role at Worldpay focuses on achieving operational excellence across the company's global technology department. The position involves guiding product delivery teams, ensuring end-to-end observability, and contributing to instrumentation standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in telemetry and a strong understanding of SRE concepts, particularly in a complex multinational organization.

Responsibilities

  • Guide product delivery teams on achieving operational excellence for new product deliveries.
  • Serve as a single point of contact for Business Ops, IT Ops, and Engineering across the customer journey.
  • Define requirements for end-to-end observability across the customer journey.
  • Contribute to observability instrumentation standards and create repeatable patterns for engineering teams.
  • Plan capacity for specific user journeys and ensure architecture supports fluctuating volume levels.
  • Create a matrix team to support best practices and training for operational teams to enable self-service of dashboards and alerts.

Requirements

  • Experience in telemetry and core SRE concepts (SLA, SLO, etc.).
  • Operational mindset with a drive for operational excellence.
  • Experience owning an end-to-end customer journey in a complex multinational organization.
  • Experience with Open Telemetry and ideally a contributor to the Open-Source Project.
  • Proficiency in AWS and Java, with coding experience beyond simple scripts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and influence decisions.
  • Experience in achieving platform-level and end-to-end SLI, SLOs, and SLAs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of batch reconciliation.
  • Experience with disaster recovery and redundancy in cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Ability to lead post-incident reviews (PIRs) to successful outcomes.
