About the position

The Occupational Health Nurse at DuPont is responsible for implementing health services programs at the site level, providing first aid, administering immunizations, and acting as a wellness coach. This role involves managing day-to-day health operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and coordinating care for occupational and non-occupational injuries. The nurse will also conduct health assessments, manage disability programs, and maintain electronic medical records, all while promoting a healthy work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management of the day-to-day operations of site Health Services.
  • Provide first aid for minor injuries and ascertain the need for further treatment by a physician.
  • Administer immunizations and emergency medications as ordered by the physician.
  • Act as a Wellness/health coach and educate employees on health topics.
  • Operate medical testing instruments for medical clearance and early detection of baseline changes.
  • Schedule and conduct health assessments and routine medical surveillance evaluations.
  • Manage Early Report of Symptoms and follow-up actions.
  • Assist in the administration of short-term disability and Family Medical Leave programs.
  • Assess employees for return-to-work fitness for duty and recommend work restrictions.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and other regulatory agencies' mandated regulations.
  • Provide or coordinate care for occupational and non-occupational injuries/illnesses.
  • Participate in recognizing and evaluating workplace hazards by conducting audits.
  • Maintain employees' electronic medical records with appropriate entries.
  • Perform urine drug collection and ensure proper chain of custody.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse in good standing with a current, active, and unrestricted License by the Virginia State Board of Nursing.
  • At least 5 years' experience as an RN, preferably with 3 years in an industrial plant setting.
  • Degree in nursing and preferably possess a COHN (Certification in Occupational Health Nursing).
  • Ability to work independently and recognize when consultation with a physician is necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment with a diverse workforce.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in managing emergency care situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
