Occupational Therapist Assistant - Home Care

About the position

The Occupational Therapist Assistant position at Carilion Clinic Home Care involves providing patient care based on evaluations and treatment plans developed by licensed Occupational Therapists. The role requires compliance with regulations governing occupational therapy and consideration of the patient's age and developmental level during treatment. The position is full-time and includes responsibilities such as coordinating patient care, documenting in medical records, supervising support staff, and participating in departmental activities.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care based upon therapist evaluation and plan of care.
• Coordinates patient care and clinical activities through communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Documents in the patient's medical record and completes patient care-related forms.
• Supervises and collaborates with support staff, volunteers, and students.
• Participates in patient care and departmental activities as requested.

Requirements

• Two-year Associate Degree from an AOTA accredited program.
• Licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Effective interpersonal, communication, customer service, and teamwork skills.
• BLS-certified (from a Carilion approved program) within six months of employment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in site-specific level of care preferred but not required.
