About the position
The Occupational Therapist position is a PRN/Flex role within the Carilion Clinic Home Care - Franklin facility. The therapist will work with a home care patient base and will be responsible for confirming and interpreting physician referrals, performing patient assessments, and planning and implementing individualized treatment programs. The role requires consideration of the patient's developmental and/or chronological age and medical diagnoses, in accordance with the regulations governing the principles and practice of Occupational Therapy. The therapist will coordinate patient care through communication with various stakeholders, document patient care activities, supervise OTAs, and participate in departmental activities.
Responsibilities
- Provides patient care based upon physician referral and age-appropriate assessment.
- Coordinates patient care and clinical activities through communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Documents in the patient's medical record and completes other patient care-related forms.
- Supervises OTAs and collaborates with other therapy staff and volunteers.
- Participates in departmental/professional activities including in-services, performance improvement, and committee membership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Experience in site specific level of care preferred but not required; one year of clinical experience required for Home Health positions.
- Licensed to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- AHA BLS-certified within six months of employment.
- Effective interpersonal, communication, customer service, and teamwork skills.
