About the position

The Occupational Therapist at Ochsner Health evaluates patients and provides inpatient occupational therapy treatment programs based on physician orders. This role involves collaboration with the healthcare team to facilitate patient transitions to appropriate post-acute or home care, aiming to achieve specific patient goals. The position requires effective communication, organizational skills, and the ability to adapt treatment plans based on patient responses.

Responsibilities

• Perform evaluations and provide treatment programs to facilitate patient-specific goals.
• Assess the patient's response to treatment and recommend treatment plan changes as appropriate.
• Maintain patient records according to documentation standards, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure treatment protocols contribute to overall hospital quality and safety targets.
• Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and communication styles.
• Remain knowledgeable on current laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy.
• Current occupational therapy license in state of practice or eligibility for licensure by examination or reciprocity from another state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not mandatory.
