About the position

The Occupational Therapist position at Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital Northwest Arkansas involves providing comprehensive care to patients in a rehabilitation setting. The role includes assessing patient needs, implementing occupational therapy interventions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The therapist will also supervise and orient staff and students, ensuring adherence to professional standards and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility and accountability for the care of patients treated by Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, rehabilitation technicians, and occupational therapy students.
  • Assess patients' needs and initiate appropriate occupational therapy interventions.
  • Work cooperatively with other patient team personnel to maintain standards for professional occupational therapy practice and interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Observe and evaluate treatment effects and the accomplishment of short and long-term goals, recommending changes to the physician if needed.
  • Perform appropriate assessments on each patient and conduct reassessments as per policy.
  • Perform accurate and timely Quality Improvement (QI) scoring.
  • Assess patient pain that interferes with optimal function and participation in rehabilitation, making appropriate interventions and physician contacts as necessary.
  • Perform all aspects of patient care in a safe environment that reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Arkansas.
  • Previous experience in all aspects of occupational therapy preferred, but not required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English; additional languages preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
