About the position

The Occupational Therapist at Mary Free Bed at Munson Otsego Outpatient is responsible for evaluating patients' needs for occupational therapy and planning and executing individualized treatment programs. This role emphasizes a patient-centered approach, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and adherence to state licensure and OT scope of practice. The therapist will also float to inpatient and acute settings as needed, ensuring comprehensive care across various patient needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of license, certification, or registration.
  • Evaluate patient condition and establish treatment goals in collaboration with patients and families.
  • Create and administer written treatment plans according to established goals.
  • Re-evaluate patient status and revise treatment plans as necessary.
  • Evaluate patients' need for medical equipment and order appropriate equipment as necessary.
  • Participate in planning for patient discharge, considering community support and environmental limitations.
  • Document patient's status and progress through evaluations and progress notes according to established standards.
  • Communicate with interdisciplinary team members to integrate occupational therapy treatment with all aspects of patient care.
  • Instruct patients and families in occupational therapy procedures and provide education materials as necessary.
  • Attend meetings and in-services as designated, following all hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Occupational Therapist license in the state of Michigan.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret appropriate information for age-specific needs.
  • Experience in evaluating and establishing treatment plans for patients.
