About the position

The Occupational Therapist at Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is responsible for evaluating, planning, directing, and administering occupational therapy programs aimed at restoring function, preventing disability, and helping patients achieve their maximum level of independence. This role involves assessing patient conditions, developing care plans in collaboration with patients and families, and implementing individualized treatment plans to improve quality of life through therapeutic exercises and patient education.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement appropriate occupational therapy plans of care to restore function and prevent disability.
  • Implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based therapy techniques such as therapeutic exercises and manual techniques.
  • Provide occupational therapy treatment consistent with patient needs assessments.
  • Perform reassessments and modify occupational therapy plans as necessary.
  • Communicate patient progress and physical limitations to supervisors, physicians, and other team members.
  • Utilize a developmental and patient-family directed approach in treatment plans based on age-specific and population-specific needs.
  • Provide supervision in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Establish treatment plans with measurable goals and time frames.
  • Complete and submit documentation based on policies and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Less than 1 year of clinical experience as required by the school program
  • Demonstrated sound clinical reasoning in synthesizing evaluation data and identifying treatment diagnoses
  • Ability to work at various locations per diem
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy techniques
  • Effective communication skills with patients, families, and co-workers
  • Ability to provide safe, compassionate, and competent occupational therapy treatments
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification upon hire
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist in the State of Pennsylvania upon hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy
  • 1 year of clinical experience required for Home Care.
